You're kicking!

Tonight daddy felt you move! He had his hand on my tummy while we were watching tv, and when he felt you move, he smiled big! I couldn't stop laughing though, so he'll have to feel you again sometime later. He kept saying, "Stop shaking the baby!" :) It was very happy laughing :)

On the Move!

You are certainly busy moving around in my tummy! Daddy can't wait until he can feel you, too! When I am sitting still at home or riding in the car, I can almost certainly feel you moving around. What an amazing feeling! It's just like a little push against the inside of my belly.

Registering

Jeff and I are having a blast registering for all of the adorable baby girl treasures! It seems that every time we go into a store to "look," we come out with something new for our baby girl! We have started our registries at Babies 'R Us and Target.

Baby Announcement!

I really think I can feel you moving around now. I have felt it for a couple days, but I’ve been unsure. The first time I felt you was on September 14th. We were on our way in the car to Greenbriar for Nana’s birthday dinner. We were listening to Oldies. Helter Skelter must have moved you to dance! I thought I felt a little poke. Smile

Today I told the kids I was pregnant! I brought in pink cookies to celebrate. At 11:45, I had Eva pass out napkins to everyone. After that, I asked the kids to make a prediction for what they thought we would do with the napkins. A couple of the boys guessed, “We are going to fold the napkins.” “We are going to throw the napkins in the air.” Ummm… Very boy answers. Finally, Prem said, “We are going to eat cookies.” I answered enthusiastically, “Oh, really? Prem, why do you think that? What do you know about napkins that some kids don’t know?” He explained that when you have a napkin, it is used for food. I told the kids that he was right. I did have something for them. While I was passing out the pink cookie to each of them, I asked them to make observations about the cookie. “It is round.” “It is pink.” “It has sprinkles.” Yes, yes, yes! I asked, “Why would I give you a pink cookie?” The kids responded excitedly, “It’s your birthday.” I told them that would be a good guess since usually people bring treats on their birthday. However, that wasn’t it. I asked what they think of when they see pink. Someone said, “Valentine’s Day.” Yes… I led them through a series of questions about what boys think when I give them a handout on pink paper. I was trying to get them to say that it is girly. I never got that response. Smile Finally, Alec, a student who is only with our class for specials and lunch, said, “My teachers were talking about someone having a baby.” “Oh!” I said, “So… Why would I give you a pink cookie?” Some of the kids suggested, “Someone is having a baby!” “Yes… Why would I give you a cookie?” FINALLY, Jeneice squeaked out, “You are having a baby.” YES! They got it. 10 minutes and counting Smile The kids all clapped and cheered. They were very excited. Some of them looked a little confused, and one asked if I had a baby in my stomach. Just wait until it really starts growing! A couple of the kids said, “On your computer you have a document that says ‘Baby Names.’ They certainly are very observant, but they never asked earlier! A few of the kids put their heads against my belly and some of them touched my belly as they passed by me. They are thrilled! We made it out to recess after the kids stopped teachers in the hall to share the news Smile They wanted to share the news with everyone (even though the word was already out!) On the playground the kids went crazy running to their friends to share the news.

September 16, 2008 Ultrasound

Today we found out you are a girl! Yeah! I left work at 2:40 and picked Jeff up for our 3:15 appointment. This may be the first time we have used valet parking! We made it just in time for our appointment time. Of course we had to wait in the waiting room. Jeff said, “They should have some pictures for me to look at.” He really wanted a sneak peak of a baby at 19 weeks Smile We had to wait about 10 minutes… I was nervous because I really just wanted to find out that everything was great with our baby. I can’t feel you kicking yet, and I wanted to be sure that you were growing just like you should be! Smile When we went into the room, I had to laugh at the bathroom right next to the table. Being pregnant means going to the bathroom frequently! Right away the technician asked if we wanted to find out whether we were having a boy or a girl. We both answered, “Yes!” The very first look we got of you looked like you were looking right at us! We got to see your face and your little hands were up to your face. Adorable! Peek-a-boo! You turned into a wiggle worm from then on. You were on the move—for a while you even had your legs crossed! Next, we looked at your brain and heart. The technician measured the bones in your body and even looked at your kidneys to be sure you were producing urine! We saw your little hands and feet. You were even spreading your fingers like Spock! Smile Then the tech finally got a shot of you uncrossing your legs. Jeff said he was nervous that you might keep your legs crossed, hiding the big news from us! It was so fun! The technician said as she spelled out the sentence on the computer screen, “It’s a GIRL!” Yeah! The tech left for a little bit for the radiologist to read the pictures. I used the restroom, and Jeff told me that I really looked pregnant when I lied on the table. My little stomach was sticking out! Smile We can’t wait to meet you!
